Unintended medication errors occur appx. 30% of the time when patients enter a hospital and 14% when they leave. (Patient Safety Network)
We designed a patient-centered, mobile-ready app that helps pharmacists discover medication errors before are most likely to occur.
Research
We conducted expert interviews, read academic journals and whitepapers to thoroughly understand the problem.
Our research and competitive analysis showed that the opportunity to make a difference was when a patient was at a transition point.
We determined that a mobile responsive app that addressed points of transitions would effectively and efficiently solve the problem.
Wireframe
We created a functional prototype to test our hypothesis.
Our direction was confirmed as both practical and feasible. We were very pleased to have found the right form and fit to the problem.
The next steps to take were to thoroughly test the prototype.

Our application is currently slated for testing in a simulation lab.

FSC
Florida Southern College needed an engaging and flexible way to reach new students.
We conducted a competitive analysis and performance review on their current site.
Our solution included a Ui Framework and robust content management system that gave them the tools they need for years to come.
Research
Our research revealed that a whopping 30% of visitors were on mobile devices.
This information was used to get additional support for mobile technologies.
In order to boost new student acquisition, a new mobile-responsive undergraduate admissions section was created.
Wireframe
Final page designs could not be known ahead of time. So a modular system was created for maximum flexibility, engagement and scalability.
This coupled well with a Kentico CMS back-end. The Marketing Department was given a robust set of tools to conduct their business.
Ui Framework
Then a Ui framework was created that allowed for seamless planning to production workflows.
This included a custom Indesign Library that reflected the layout of the page modules. These components coupled with custom CMS controls.
The Marketing Department is now self-sufficient in creating engaging, mobile responsive site components that they could tailor to their various marketing needs.
Solution Design
The final solution was a mobile-friendly, cms-driven application.
This site is crafted for acquiring new students and parents who are visiting the site with a desktop, tablet or mobile device.

Authentico
Authentico Restaurant is a new restaurant venture in Chicago. They approached us for branding, identity design, web presence for both mobile and desktop applications.
We helped them with everything from the imagery in the interior of their restaurant to business cards and an online presence.
Identity
We conducted an extensive image search to establish an authentic Mexican color palette & imagery.

The result is a mobile-responsive website that allows customers obtain location details, view specials, read menus and make reservations in a fun, authentic Mexican style.

Gyroscope Studios is an independent service & digital product design studio.
We specialize in product strategy and interaction design for new-to-market digital products. We have a unique blend of business acumen, design and development experience for mobile and desktop applications.
Gyroscope Studios was founded in 2006 by Ken Whaler. It functions as a solo-venture but partners with many talented designers and developers depending on project needs.
Ken is a seasoned user experience professional with 10+ years experience as a strategist, designer and developer for innovative products and services. Ken started his career as a print designer working with regional and national clients. He then spent several years working independently with many startup and Fortune 500 companies.
Ken earned a Masters of Science Degree in Entrepreneurship in Applied Technologies from the University of South Florida and is an active member of many professional organizations as well as startup incubators.
Since Ancient Greek, Chinese and Roman times, gyroscopes have been used for play and science.
They are found in everything from toys to smartphones and cruise ships to one wheeled motorcycles.
